Harmonium has been one of the most eagerly-awaited vegan openings in Edinburgh for a long time.
Read on to find out… Well, the good news is that Harmonium is completely animal produce free – so you can have your pick of whatever you want on the menu!
Because it’s still quite new they might still be changing things around a bit, but these are the kind of dishes you can expect to find: So, is it worthy of all the hype?
The seabuckthorn chocolate cheesecake was an interesting concoction – the first couple of bites are a bit strange, but once you get used to the flavour it is a very tasty dessert indeed.
With a varied menu of inventive dishes as well as crowd-pleasing classics, we hope that this completely vegan establishment is a stalwart of the Leith dining scene for many years to come!

Woodland Creatures – complete with light up plastic animals in the window, naturally – is located in what used to be Balfours on Leith Walk.
The venue has undergone nothing short of a complete transformation: out with the rough, in with the exposed brickwork, PVC timber parquet flooring and ever-changing displays of funky, modern art.
The seating is a mix of old theatre seats, timber schoold chairs and high back banquet seating, with booze prices kept at wallet-friendly levels, with homemade mains (like beef goulash and hake in lobster bisque) setting you back a mere £7 or so.
Accompanied by a good selection of draft beers and cask ales, and sporting Leith Walk's only (albeit quite wee) beer garden, there are far worse ways to while away the evening.
The venue includes a 60-person events room, free for hire for all manner of events – you're even allowed to bring your own birthday cake.

It was the restaurant the OH brought me to for our first Chinese New Year’s celebration together and we revisited the restaurant again for Chinese New Year this year.
On the day of Chinese/Lunar New Year, Chinese people give the animals a day of rest from slaughter and choose to eat vegetarian for one day.
I’m happy to say I no longer hold onto any guilt for only giving them one additional day and having that reprieve shortly taken away when the workers return the next day for work.
I’m pleased to say that being vegan means giving more animals a chance to be free from pain and suffering, 365 days a year.
