If you’re looking for a great Turkish restaurant in Edinburgh, try one of these tasty choices... This intimate Newington restaurant is a charmingly decorated place that feels like a cross between a café and a friend’s living room.

Here, we love the breakfast menu (served until 5pm) which includes a traditional Turkish breakfast, among others: feast on eggs, spicy sucuk sausage, Turkish salami, two cheeses, tomato, warm bread, butter and a Turkish tea.

In the evenings, the banquet menus are a great way to get a taste of the whole menu, with a choice of meze only, or a three course feast of mixed meze, a grilled dish and sweet, sticky baklava for dessert.

While you’ll find some non-Turkish dishes on the menu (such as their incredible patatas bravas and a beautiful profiterole dessert…), Meze Meze is a great place to get a true taste of authentic Turkish cuisine.

It’s all about the charcoal grill at Rodi in Edinburgh’s West End: a comfortable and relaxed Turkish barbecue restaurant that’s equally as great for a date night as it is for a birthday celebration.

Pera: Turkish Mangal & Meze Bar (57 Elm Row, Edinburgh) | The List

Warm service and generous portions of Turkish favourites in shoe box-sized mangal and mezze bar.

Boasting freshly prepared mezze, fish and salad mains, as well as lamb and chicken from the mangal grill and an intriguing breakfast menu, there’s so much to choose from it’s a struggle not to over-order.

The chef’s selection cold mezze platter makes a perfectly good meal in itself, offering up to 16 different daily-changing dishes of marinated vegetables, zesty pickles and smoky dips cooked with spices, herbs, garlic and yogurt.

We offer a unique range of authentic Turkish cuisine ranging from traditional Turkish breakfast dishes, freshly made gozleme with a choice of delicious fillings followed by a large range of hot and cold freshly made meze dishes.

In the evening we also offer a variety of kebabs, all marinated in a blend of aromatic spices and flame grilled on our mangal (charcoal BBQ) the Turkish way.

Ada, Edinburgh, restaurant review - Scotsman Food and Drink

food

It's early days for Edinburgh's Ada but the starters and desserts are worth checking out, finds Gaby Soutar I ’d never really thought about a tortoise’s ears before visiting this place.

From the Cold Starters selection, we were satisfied by the five neat dolma (£4.75), with rice, aubergine and pepper, all swaddled in vine leaves, while, a bowlful of baba ghanoush (£4.75) was a clean and chunky version of this aubergine paste, with a decent amount of smokiness.

Since I can’t get enough when it comes to eggplant (even after the news that, apparently, Gwyneth Paltrow poisoned dinner guests when she served her signature parmigiana dish raw), I went for the aubergine dolma (£9.85), which was also available as a pepper version.

They were stuffed with a wet and walnutty rice, aubergine and red pepper mixture – with more plain rice, tomato-ey couscous, a bugle sized roasted green chilli pepper and some chopped salad leaves.

We must give them time to get established, tortoise style.

food

Compact, unfussy and often busy, Pera is a friendly Turkish restaurant.

The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it exterior hides a warm and welcoming little dining room hung with Turkish tourism posters.

Many swear by the full Turkish breakfast.

I also ordered the Turkish milk drink, which was barely warm, although the flavor was fantastic.

I would not go back and order what I did; however, my dining companion ordered a lamb kebab and it was fantastic.
