The Parents’ Guild Christmas Fair is a perfect example of the ways we can now open the school up to our wider community: the World Food Hall in the dining room and magical Santa’s Grotto in the new theatre were particularly impressive!

I am so delighted to learn that I will, however, be bestowed with an honorary Old Girl membership, and hope very much that I may be able to keep up with some of you through the annual Tea Party.

In The Grand Committee Room, an annex to Westminster Hall, more than 20 London MPs, from both the Labour and Conservative parties assembled to debate the issue introduced by Rupa.

It is Rupa’s belief that ‘the best politicians are those who are personally invested in the community, who live there seven days a week, using the hospitals and enrolling their children in the schools.’

Rupa is still very much committed to the NHEHS Old Girls’ Association, and along with the local candidates from other parties she enjoyed being invited in for the Sixth Forms’ mock election hustings last term.

That’s why I was really happy when we were invited to attend the Afternoon Tea in eteaket Tea room in Edinburgh.

So this post will be all about the review of eteaket Afternoon Tea in Edinburgh (and I’m revealing you way earlier than necessary, that this review will be very positive).

And I can understand why people like eteaket Afternoon Tea so much – the atmosphere is really nice and laid back, the staff is friendly and the prices are affordable.

Eteaket is one of the price-friendliest Afternoon Teas in Edinburgh, but it’s definitely above the others in quality (in the same category).

Urban Angel | Restaurants in New Town, Edinburgh

Review analysis
food

A zen, subterranean cafe-restaurant serving seasonal, organic and ethical produce with flavours straight from heaven The sister restaurant of Urban Angel (on Forth Street) closed down earlier this summer, putting all the focus back on this original spot on Hanover Street, which turned ten this year.

The room is a very zen subterranean haven of pale pine and flagstone floors where they’ve been serving up seasonal, organic and ethical produce long before it seemed to become almost a given for any (sniff) self-respecting city centre bistro.

If your yoga classes have been guilting you into a more balanced approach to eating, Urban Angel’s smoothies mix up mango and coconut water with nutrient-loaded things like spinach, spirulina and kale for just under a fiver (there’s a raw chocolate version too, made with almond milk, cacao, banana and vanilla).

Even the treats wear a halo (the clue was always there in the café’s name), with organic plum and frangipane tart, a gluten-free orange and almond cake or fairtrade dark chocolate and nut brownie.

The good virtues continue in the superfood salads, organic lamb, pistachio and feta koftes and healthy fish dishes, but if any of this sounds like joyless, penitent eating, you’d be dead wrong - the flavours are straight from heaven.
