The pub exudes coziness with its Chesterfield leather sofas, copper table booths for those intimate date nights and its tables that can accommodate larger parties under the ceiling of wine bottles.

The Sunday Roast is great value for money at £29.50 for two courses for two people.

A roast of the day, ours was Pork Belly with Roast Potatoes, Root Vegetable Mash (potato and carrot), Yorkshire Puddings, Seasonal Vegetables (cauliflower) & a Jug of Gravy.

The potatoes were crispy, more like a large chip than a potato roasted in the oven but then no-one makes roast potatoes like mum.

The staff are friendly, the place is quirky and relaxing, and it’s fabulously central; and what a great contender for Sunday Roast!

Simple and tasty dishes using quality Scottish produce is the name of the game here with a good variety of dishes available on the menu along with regular specials.

I went for the days special; grilled chicken burger with smoked bacon and spicy salsa on a brioche bun with a side of Maris Piper hand cut chips.

The chicken burger was really tasty, bacon was well cooked and the brioche bun lightly toasted.

The smoked pork chop was also very tasty, cooked just right and the homemade black pudding was great and the apple chutney set it off perfectly.

To sum up we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at The Queens Arms and would highly recommend it for a few drinks or a tasty bite to eat.

Boys Eat Scotland review of Dinner at The Queens Arms The Queens Arms reaches out to you from its basement location on Frederick Street and you can’t help being drawn in to this most welcoming pub that was packed with a lively mixture of locals and visitors when we arrived for dinner a week or so ago.

Our booth at the Queens Arms We decided to kick the evening off with a beer while we ordered from the “Light Bites, Bigger Bites and Sharing Plate menu”.

Beetroot arancini We both opted for pub grub staples of crispy battered fish of the day with Maris Piper hand cut chips, lemon and tartar sauce (£10.50) for me and Aberdeen Angus burger on a toasted onion bun, Queens relish and Maris Piper Chips (£10) for Raymond.

Fish and Chips Raymond’s burger arrived in a soft onion bun with lettuce, tomato, Blarliath cheddar (£1) and was crowned with Queens relish.

Raymond’s Queens Arms burger with the lid taken off!

From a breezy brunch to a full on roast, Sunday lunches are the best.

Pub grub at its finest, The Queens Arms is the perfect little nook to escape to on a Sunday and cosy up with some delightful comfort food.

Sundays usually mean a family roast and there are few things better in our book than great food in great company.

The best way to end the weekend in style, Kyloe certainly knows how to throw a Sunday Roast – they won the BEST roast dinner in Scotland award in 2016 –  and though you may be shocked at the amount of food that arrives at your table, you won’t be shocked by the prices.

The Queens Arms provides a cosy Saturday night dinner with plenty of atmosphere, finds Lizzy Buchan Pushing my way into the packed entrance of The Queens Arms on a Saturday night, I felt extraordinarily smug about the fact that I had actually booked a table for once in my life.

The cosy pub was crammed to the rafters with people supping on beers, gossiping over cocktails or snuggling up in booths for dinner.

I would also prefer the chefs concentrated on doing a few things well so I was pleased to see The Queens Arms had a varied but sensible menu.

But I know how impossible it is to find delicious treats when you have food allergies, so I was impressed there was something like this on the menu.

We had a booth to ourselves which was cosy and perfect for a date as it still felt intimate despite the crowded settings.

My visit to Edinburgh’s The Queens Arms was nothing short of outstanding, and I’ve been reminiscing about it ever since.

Walking up Frederick Street from Princes Street, my date and I came across The Queens Arms, a small pub set just below street level.

I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of Sunday roasts, and I’m delighted to report that the meal was nothing short of amazing and at the level you would expect from your favourite home-cooked version.

We accompanied our meal with an ice-cold pint for myself and a large glass of rosé for my date.

I couldn’t fault the relaxed setting that this Edinburgh gem set for an unpretentious yet impressive date.
