With other dishes such as the Brazilian Feijoada (bean stew with meat), this is a core part of your exotic dining experience.

Despite being informed to expect an “authentic gaucho dining experience”, what I actually end up experiencing is a strangely staged restaurant, set up for press and invite-only guests.

After choosing a variety of side dishes, all of the guests take their seats and wait for their green cards on the table to alert the chefs doing rounds that they are ready for meat.

As with all staged restaurant experiences, Thomas Maunier , who is also one of the founders of the chain sits at the table with all of the guests, telling wild tales of Argentina and Leeds, for are they really so different?

Despite the whole set up of the evening being a little staged, Fazenda takes a unique and refreshing approach to fine dining, providing its guests with the opportunity to try everything on the menu.

Independent restaurant operators City District Group, founders of Fazenda Bar Grill, have announced they will open their Edinburgh doors on Friday 23rd February.

Fazenda’s Sales and Marketing Director, Tomas Maunier, commented: Fazenda Edinburgh is inspired by the kind of restaurant you would find in the top areas of São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

Diners are also invited to visit Fazenda’s outstanding gourmet sides bar offering an extensive selection of salads, sushi, smoked salmon, fresh cut vegetables, cured meats, traditional Brazilian dishes, and more.

Wine is also a key ingredient of the Fazenda experience, with a carefully-curated wine list offering diners a perfect accompaniment to every cut of meat.

Fazenda offers a selection of award-winning wines with a focus on South America, but also including some of the great players from the old world, ensuring guests experience a culinary journey they will not forget.

You go to the buffet table, fill your plate, eat, then, when you’re ready for the passadores to bring over skewers of churrasco meat, you turn your coaster to green, then red when you’re done.

You can return to the buffet table at any point, and turn your cardboard coaster back to green if you get a second wind.

In tureens, there are a few hot things, like chimichurri potatoes and feijoada, the Brazilian black bean and pork stew.

Think beetroot (topped with coconut shavings, orange and onion), picantones (spicy sweet potato), balsamic onions, curried cauliflower, sushi, olives, chargrilled asparagus, ceviche seafood, dill-topped smoked salmon, Boggle-dice sized cubes of cheese, stuffed vine leaves, salpicao (a chicken salad coleslaw thing), anchovies and loads more.

So we turned the coaster to red, paused, then ordered dessert, the Brazilian sweet treats (£6.15), which consisted of five mini puds.

We were invited along to the soft opening of South American restaurant, Fazenda Bar & Grill on Edinburgh’s George Street and left, not only with full bellies, but with high hopes for the latest restaurant to open in Edinburgh.

To start the Fazenda experience we visit the sides bar.

You could really spend the whole evening here as there’s a huge selection of food on offer from salads to cheese, cured meats, fish and more.

Meat really is the star of the show at Fazenda, but it isn’t the only tasty thing on offer.

The food at Fazenda was impressive, with a variety of moist and tender meats served until you can handle no more – that’s what you call a first world problem!
