Henderson’s Salad Table, tucked just below ground level on Hanover Street, is a well-known name with everyone in Edinburgh.
Even though it is a vegetarian restaurant – omnivores, vegans and vegetarians alike are all well aware of its reputation.
Henderson’s Salad Table has a completely vegetarian menu, with vegan options clearly labelled.
The menu has been slightly updated since I took the pictures at my last visit, but the dishes below should give you an idea of what to expect: Hendersons Salad Table restaurant is an institution in Edinburgh, so this place is always going to be a solid bet for lunch or dinner.
Yes, the restaurant is vegetarian, but I would say around 75% of the menu is vegan or can be made vegan – so you won’t be stuck for choice.

Tucked between Queen Street and George Street, this spooky wee haunt is a bit of a must-see if you're a tourist in town.
It's packed with character, whether you're on a wild goose chase for the hidden toilets, chilling in one of the themed spooky booths or sinking a Jekyll and Hyde cocktail.
During fringe time, the venue doubles up as a free live entertainment venue, hosting a programme of Laughing Horse comedy in its lower quarters.

Established in 1962, Hendersons Salad Table & Restaurant is more Edinburgh institution than trend-following vegetarian eatery.
Still, the flagship of this famous family of eateries can certainly compete with any chic inner-city vegan and vegetarian joint in terms of cool points.
Decked out with sleek furniture and creative lighting, though still with a comforting and casual atmosphere in their historic Hanover Street location, this vegetarian restaurant befits cool cats and business types as well as it does health-conscious or ethical eaters.
That said, however, Hendersons Salad Table & Restaurant doesn’t rely on its enviable New Town location, cool design or suave lunch crowd for its reputation.
Hendersons Salad Table & Restaurant on Hanover Street has become one of the New Town’s most beloved restaurants over the past half century, a reputation undoubtedly built on the superb quality of their food.
