MP’s Bistro, the restaurant of the Parliament House Hotel, is a contemporary Edinburgh dining spot with a long history.
The amalgamation of Jacobean and Georgian properties, the hotel is packed with Scottish charm, close to the many sights of Edinburgh but peacefully located down a narrow cobbled lane, away from the noise and crowds, making MP’s Bistro an ideal place in which to relax and unwind.
MP’s head chef combines traditional Scottish flavours with classic cookery and local ingredients to offer an imaginative menu accompanied by a vast range of wines and, of course, whiskies.

I will write more about our adventures after a good night’s sleep, but I’m quite keen to share my thoughts about Parliament House Hotel where we stayed, and MP’s Bistro, where we had dinner last night.
We had a flat screen TV in the room but were too busy chatting to turn it on, an armchair, a desk and chair, a mirror, nice black and white photos of Edinburgh on the walls.
Parliament House Hotel has its own restaurant, MP’s Bistro, and we used the on-site facilities three times, both mornings for breakfast and on Saturday night for dinner.
All fruit and veg at MP’s Bistro come from another family-run Scottish supplier of fresh produce, Mark Murphy, who source and supply only the finest in-season Scottish produce.
Disclosure: Cé and I were invited to spend two nights at Parliament House Hotel and eat dinner at MP’s Bistro.

Our MP’s Bistro is open from Monday to Sunday, 6pm – 9.30pm, for everything from intimate dinners for two to celebrations for large parties.
You can even book the whole restaurant for a private dining experience.

Part of the Parliament House Hotel, MP’s Bistro is tucked away on Calton Hill, just a couple of minutes from Princes Street and Waverley train station.
Refurbished in the spring of 2013, MP’s Bistro uses fresh, local ingredients to create menus with a distinct Scottish flavour.
As well as offering an a la carte choice, the pre-theatre menu is very popular, thanks in part to the proximity of MP’s Bistro to Edinburgh Playhouse.
While the Scottish accent is certainly evidence in the menus at MP’s Bistro, they don’t dominate the dining room at this Calton Hill restaurant.
Desserts such as the rhubarb and cardamom tart are always popular in MP’s Bistro, near Waverley train station.
