Edinburgh - REVIEW – The Cellar Door Patisserie, George IV Bridge ...

The Cellar Door Patisserie proudly takes place on George IV Bridge above the Cellar Door Restaurant, which was formerly the Olive Branch Bistro.

All the choices looked mouthwatering, but what I like about this place is, that they have little samples of the cakes to try before you buy.

Chocolatey chocolate cake?

The carrot cake (£2.50) was so heavenly moist and delicious that my friend immediately chose that option and I went for the more unusual choice of plum Madeira cake (£2.50).

We sliced them in half so we could experience both of our choices and the carrot cake was so perfectly moist with topping to die for – I honestly think it’s my current favourite cake in the whole of Edinburgh!

Tucked away under George IV Bridge, The Cellar Door is a welcoming Scottish restaurant.

Seasonal Scottish produce is at the heart of the constantly evolving menus at The Cellar Door.

From Shetland mussels and Scottish salmon to crispy, oat-caked haggis bon bons and 21 day-aged rib-eye steaks, the menus owe much to Scotland’s farmers, fishermen and game keepers.

A short but select range of whiskies means diners can finish in fine Caledonian style.

The Cellar Door is on George IV Bridge in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town and convenient for The Royal Mile, National Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh Festival Theatre.

Operated by a dedicated team passionate about Scottish cuisine, you can almost taste the strong sense of national identity down at The Cellar Door.

Infused with Scotland’s culinary heritage, The Cellar Door spoils diners with classic Scottish fare like traditional beer battered fish & chips and Scottish takes on continental specialities such as the chestnut mushroom risotto.

Keeping things interesting, The Cellar Door’s chefs create new dishes every day to keep customers, old and new, coming back for more.

With a menu frequently refreshed, it’s no wonder that regular patrons will associate The Cellar Door with a range of tastes rather than any particular dish.

The Cellar Door also goes beyond casual dining, also available for private events and team-building workshops of up to sixty people, in which attendees are guided by the friendly crew to create fresh batches of chocolate delights such as chocolates, truffles and chocolate-dipped fruits.
