Then there was the slow realisation that my neat, ordered brain had assumed the Taco’s were arranged sequentially getting warmer, but no I had done medium, hot and then diminuendoed to mild.
But this practical experiment means I can report that even the hot sauce is completely bearable so don’t be afraid when ordering you are going to make your Taco inedible!
The three Tacos were again a good sized portion and a good amount for a quick meal that will satisfy your hunger.
We were then offered a chocolate and chilli mousse as a dessert, which we were hesitant about.
The fiery red chilli full of seeds sat on the top looked like a warning to me, but we are brave manly men and gave it a try… it was very good, the balance of the chilli to the chocolate was spot on, once you’d remove the slice of chilli from the equation.

El Toro Loco, which means ‘crazy bull’ in case you were wondering, offers gourmet Mexican street food in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town on the Grassmarket.
Apparently the name ‘crazy bull’ came from Paul Duncan’s wife, who thought he was crazy to open another restaurant (he already owns Mamma’s Pizzeria on the Grassmarket).
You are able to ‘create your own’ Mexican delight at El Toro Loco, choosing from burritos, tacos, quesadillas or just a bowl and then filling it with your preferred meat, filling and extras, including salsa and guacamole.
The restaurant is decorated with authentic Mexican items, including traditional Mexican bull skulls, resin beaded human skulls (eek) and 36,000 Mexican coins (as well as one five pence coin!)
El Toro Loco is open til late and you can sit in or take away your Mexican feast.

El Toro Loco is the new venture from Mamma's American Pizzeria, serving up Mexican street food.
With burritos, quesadillas and tacos washed down with frozen margaritas, the restaurant is fully kitted out in Mexican souvenirs lending it an authentic vibe.
The Mexican street food stop keeps it simple with four options on the menu, serving up burritos, tacos, chilli bowls and quesadillas packed with a slow cooked meat of your choice and topped with rice, beans and salsa.
However the team are already busy creating new tasty additions set to be added to the menu with plans for a line in Mexican breakfasts.
Alongside soft drinks, you can take sip on frozen margaritas, tequila or Mexican beer and wine.
