Cafes in Edinburgh - Casa Amiga - The Skinny

Back in 2014, the Da Silva family gained themselves some seriously scrummy brownie points by bringing the flavours of Portugal to Edinburgh's Leith Walk with their cafe, Casa Amiga.

Such was the success of their venture that they've now gone and got themselves a second outpost, tucked snugly into the city's often forgotten-about North Bridge Arcade.

It's a handy wee spot for catching the attention of those in need of a sugar rush before ascending the Royal Mile, and likewise, works well as the perfect place to scope out some picnic ingredients if you're on your way to nearby Princes Street gardens or the Meadows.

Though dinkier than their Leith premises, customers can still expect to find the same range of freshly prepared goods, from savoury options to sweeter fare like apple tarts, pastries and of course, the now legendary pastéis de nata (that's Portuguese custard tarts to you and I); all going well, there may even be a license in place soon to prepare hot meals and serve alcohol, so watch this space!

Either way, with good vibes on tap, city centre views and seriously strong coffee, it looks that baby Amiga is all set to follow in its sibling's success.
