Welcome to Howies - Howies Restaurants

Established in 1990, Howies is a family owned restaurant collection based in Scotland.

There are three Howies Restaurants in the portfolio – two in Edinburgh and one in Aberdeen – and in summer 2017 we introduced our newest venue – Scotts Kitchen – to Edinburgh.

When it comes to our food and drink, we strive to make the most of Scotland’s incredible natural larder.

Edinburgh Scottish Restaurants: 10Best Restaurant Reviews

Rather than a menu patrons are presented with a list of around twenty ingredients, some familiar, many obscure and intriguing.

From this list you discard anything that is not to your taste and you place yourself in the capable hands of the chef and wait with baited breath.

A four course meal costs around ?

35 (but by the time you add in all of the little extras such as the delicious artisan bread it feels more like a eight course feast) which proves to be very good value for money.

The décor is cool, clean and minimalist and the food is immaculately presented and delicious.

food

Please note that the quality of food is not anyhow correlated with the quality of landing pages and both examples below are probably the best Scottish restaurants in Edinburgh.

A simple table could make this much more readable so potential customers can easily scan it through on their phone on the way to the restaurant.

Similar to the previous example, it is definitely a good idea to have your address and phone number placed on every landing page but it needs to be easily spotted.

This entire block of text is impossible to digest and if you actually have enough patience to read it you can see that it’s just an incredible mess of statements about the company, locations, menus and other restaurants.

By wasting so much space on displaying irrelevant information both of the landing pages missed the opportunity to provide the most important answer: Why would I choose your restaurant amongst hundreds of other restaurants within a 10 min walk?

The food both times was good quality local ingredients, prepared simply, to allow the natural flavours to shine through.

It would be reasonable to expect that the fixed price lunch menu consisted of slightly smaller portions and cheaper ingredients, but there is no reduction in the quality of presentation or thought put into the flavours on the plate.

Service you can’t fault, a welcoming environment and good wholesome cooking of quality local ingredients.

The Fixed price lunch menu is available from £10.95 for two course or 13.95 for three, a particularly nice touch is that all of the starters (well apart from the soup) can be had as a larger main course portion, almost doubling the size of the menu.

The dinner prices average out around £22 for a starter and main course, although with their current winter warmer dinner Sunday to Thursday will set you back a tiny £14.95 for two courses.
