The menu is a classic Scottish menu with starters such as Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with a whisky sauce, Smoked Salmon with Horseradish cream and pickled cucumber and Chef’s Soup of the Day.

On the Mains you’ll find dishes like Fish n Chips, Seabream with olives, dried tomato and basil crushed potatoes; or Slow Cooked Pork Belly with black pudding and ham hock croquette.

I choose the Pork Cutlet with mushroom duxelle, sweet potato fries and roasted cherry tomatoes with peppercorn sauce.

I chose the Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The sticky toffee cake was super moist and smothered in the butterscotch sauce leaving enough in a pool at the bottom of the plate to scoop up extra onto your spoon with each mouthful.

Bread Street Brasserie Vegan Night Review | Vegan Edinburgh

On the first Wednesday of every month, Bread Street Brasserie throws open its doors to vegans with a tempting fixed price three-course menu.

Given the menu changes for each vegan night, I can’t say for certain exactly what dishes will be available.

The three-course menu is only available on the first Wednesday of every month, however if you choose to go any other night I have been assured that the kitchen will still be happy to cater for vegan requirements.

To give you an idea of the calibre of food on offer, here are a few snaps of dishes they’ve served in the past: If the previous meals are anything to go by, the food at Bread Street Brasserie is absolutely cracking.

Bread Street Brasserie vegan nights generally occur on the first Wednesday of the month.

R's whole baked plaice was an impressive fish, the soft sweet flesh easily came off the bone and the drizzling of sauce vierge dotted with capers kept things fresh.

Whilst there were minor issues, some avoidable (watercress garnish on 3 of 4 savoury dishes) some not (the vast expanse required of a room that must accommodate an entire hotel's worth of breakfast guests can never feel right for a few cosy bistro tables), there were some nice ideas on the menu made with good ingredients and well-priced.

Mr Bite had fish pie with poached pollok, prawn, spinach, smoked haddock, cheddar mash and green salad (£14).

Dark Belgian chocolate cake, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream (£5) got the nod and Mr Bite swooped.

More mint and lemon on a crisper crostini, ditto dill in the croquette,  chewier meringues, but these wee things pale against the bigger picture.
