Akva, run by the same guys who brought us Boda Bar, Hemma and Joseph Pearce's, is a cafe, bar, restaurant and venue with a delightful Swedish twist.
Akva have set up home in Fountainbridge, right next to the Union Canal, the perfect location for a relaxing afternoon of sampling Swedish cooking, cakes and wine whilst watching the canal boats chug by at a graceful 2mph.
On the menu, expect to find Scandinavian staple Smørrebrød, or ‘open sandwiches’ to you or I, as well as delicious brunch options, share boards, various main courses, importantly, good cake!
There’s also a buffet menu offering a variable array of delights that you pick yourself, or, if you’re just dropping by for a coffee, the kanelbullar (Swedish cinnamon roll) is rather hard to resist.
Akva also hosts events such as open mics and dance classes in the evenings and there’s even a kids’ corner to keep the wee ones amused.

Edinburgh Reward: A can of Pistonhead lager and shot of Akvavit for £5 Akva is a Swedish-inspired bar, restaurant and café located by the beautiful Union Canal in Fountainbridge, just a stone throw away from Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
The bar features a fine selection of craft beers as well as a specially-made cocktail menu.

In Akva you can organise your own unique event.
Our mezzanine level has a capacity for 300 people, where you can create your own theme for your event.
The total capacity is 600, and the full venue is also available for a private hire.
Akva has regular events such as ceilidhs, company quiz nights, weddings, networking events, music and DJ nights.
