An enchanting hotel found just west of Edinburgh city centre, The Bonham Hotel offers guests an elegant location in which to relax, whether it’s for the night or just for a delightful meal.

Members who call in advance can enjoy every contemporary style dish on the A la Carte Menu which is available Friday to Wednesday night only at the Bonham’s Restaurant at an excellent price, providing the ideal excuse to indulge in a little extra.

Set in a grand dining area, rich with dark oak and large windows looking out to wonderful scenery, diners can settle in for a resplendent meal whilst being served by a knowledgeable and friendly team of service staff.

Begin the experience with one of the exemplary appetisers, such as the irresistible hand dived Shetland scallops, adorned with wild rice, a pomegranate salsa and curried cauliflower, the rich roasted heritage beetroot, complete with Gorgonzola cheese, golden raisins and a hazelnut crumb, and the delectable Scottish borders pan seared partridge breast, partnered with haggis bonbons, mulled pears and a parsley puree.

The Bonham: Dining Review on Undiscovered Scotland

location   ambience   food   menu   value

One of the factors which really highlight The Bonham as something out of the ordinary is the way it has developed a series of menus and offers to ensure it appeals to the widest possible market: something it views as important as the hotel is not in a location people simply find by chance.

The standard lunch menu offers a choice of three starters, three mains and three sweets and is offered on a fixed price (and very good value) two or three course basis.

Those wanting dinner at The Restaurant at the Bonham can choose from an a la carte menu which, when we visited, offered four starters, five mains and five desserts including cheese.

This is a frequently changing menu available for both lunch or dinner which offers a choice of three starters, three mains and three sweets, including cheese.

The first course is self served from a buffet in the rear portion of the restaurant, and we found the choice on offer to be unusually good, ranging from cereals to salmon and fresh fruit to cold meats and cheese, all beautifully presented.

location   food   staff   quietness   ambience   facilities

The Bonham is one of the Town House Collection of luxury hotels in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Bonham describes itself as a luxury boutique hotel, and once past its exceptionally discreet exterior you find yourself in a hotel to which guests return time and again.

The rooms on the front of the hotel look out over the attractive and quiet townscape of Drumsheugh Gardens, and the higher you are the more you see (though one more storey would have been needed to get a view of Edinburgh Castle).

The Bonham's quiet but highly convenient location mean that its meeting room is in frequent use by corporate customers.

In part this is down to the location, and in part to the stylish way the public areas and guest rooms have been presented.
