Charitable restaurant, Home, serves great food that does good, says Gaby Soutar By the time you read this, someone in the capital will have won dinner with Leonardo DiCaprio.

As well as training socially disadvantaged people to work in their venue and ploughing all their profits into the charity, with every meal you have the option to Pay it Forward, which involves forking out a little extra to buy someone in need a coffee (£2), lunch (£5) or dinner (£10).

It turned out to be a sort of squid fajita offering, and was good, sweet with peppers, chopped parsley and loads of paprika spiced hoops.

The food here is suitably homely, perfect for winter, and the low pricing means that even the tightwaddiest diner will find it easy to tick the £10 box, as we did, to pay for someone deserving’s dinner.

Put down that Wolf of Wall Street DVD and spend three hours of your life at this restaurant instead.

Tom and Michaela Kitchin opened their restaurant, The Kitchin on Edinburgh’s Leith waterfront in 2006.

The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2007 followed by numerous prestigious awards including 'Best UK Restaurant', 'Best Restaurant in Scotland' and very recently 'Best Restaurant Experience' in 2015.

The Kitchin presents modern British seasonal cuisine influenced by French cooking techniques and an appreciation of the best quality ingredients available from Scotland's fantastic natural larder.

The restaurant’s philosophy ‘From Nature to Plate’, is a true reflection of Tom’s passion for the finest, freshest Scottish seasonal produce and the cooking at the restaurant reflects Tom’s training under some of the world’s best chefs blended with his own Scottish heritage.

Welcome to Edinburgh’s first gourmet steak restaurant.

The name Kyloe, an old Scots word for Highland beef cattle, was chosen for the restaurant as it represents the strength and versatility of Scottish beef produce.

We use cuts from pedigree Aberdeen Angus – supplied by some of Scotland’s top farms and butchers – to bring our customers the best possible steak experience.

Our first floor restaurant can be found in The Rutland Hotel at Edinburgh’s West End and boasts enviable views of Edinburgh Castle.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kyloe.
