Our first review of 2018 welcomes a new takeaway sushi place to Haymarket.

I noticed one of their boxes featured their signature ninja rolls so that seemed a decent place to start.

They made for pretty good eating.

The tuna wasn’t of finest quality but the rolls were well-crafted and the pickles were very enjoyable.

Haymarket is now a hotbed of Japanese places and while Go Ninja!

Found just across the road from the train station, this wee sushi bar has shelves bursting with sushi boxes to grab and go – whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or something to eat on the train.

Shortly after Go Ninja’s opening, I was asked to pop along and put the vegan menu through its paces.

Go Ninja have a huge selection of sushi boxes ready to go, many of which are safe for vegans.

It had a great variety of vegan sushi, with a nice range of flavours and textures.

Go Ninja is a great wee addition to Haymarket, offering vegans yet another great option for healthy lunch in the area.

Ninja is the latest sushi outlet to hit Edinburgh.

Whilst travelling to London regularly on business, I noticed an abundance of takeaway sushi restaurants.

I believe the biggest challenge we face is in convincing people to give up their more obvious (and mundane) lunching habits and swap sandwiches for sushi.

I said we face a challenge in convincing people to eat sushi over sandwiches, but as you say, sushi is becoming increasingly popular and I don’t think it will be long until Edinburgh’s eating culture catches up with cities like London.

It’s inspired by a restaurant I visited in New York, which served the most amazing sushi burritos – another thing that was impossible to get your hands on in Edinburgh… until now!
