There's a really tasty vegetarian option or if you want something lighter you can go for eggs benedict or even a healthy bowl of muesli.

You can get a great breakfast here any day of the week but you'll find it is very popular at weekends.

I have been to Montpeliers a couple of times times and I've always found the place to be really busy and the dinner menu with a starter and main course for £10 is probably the reason for much of Montpeliers popularity.

The menu begins with a good selection of five starters and then Main courses catering to every taste.

If the comprehensive daily menu doesn't take your fancy then why not look at the à la carte, with a choice of ten starters as well as a couple of appealing sharing boards.

We decided to share the mixed platter for a starter and then have the corn-fed Chicken Breast with King Prawns for a main course.

The staff as usual were very friendly and efficient bringing over menus taking drinks orders and returning to take our food order after once we had made the difficult deliberations detailed above!

This well-regarded neighbourhood bar offers a great choice of dining options from dawn till late.

Behind its pretty exterior, the stylish space is split between a lively bar area boasting an impressive selection of draft beers and a slightly more sedate dining section.

The menu is wide-ranging, offering breakfast as late as 5pm, off-peak dining deals and a good selection of gastropub favourites.

A starter of black pudding hashcake with poached egg and Arran mustard is excellent, each element holding its own in terms of flavour.

Desserts veer towards indulgence with a sticky toffee pudding so rich and sweet it may make you light-headed – in a good way.

Place in the heart of the popular Bruntsfield district, Montpeliers has been a local favourite since 1992.

The sort of place where mums meet for a coffee post-school run and friends get together for lunch, dinner or after work drinks.

Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and all points in between, Montpeliers likes to use lots of Scottish produce, from Isle of Lewis mussels to Orkney beef.

All their menus are flexible with sandwiches, salads and sharing boards adding options for those not looking for a three course meal.

Montpeliers is on Bruntsfield Place.
