Diner 7 | Restaurants in Leith, Edinburgh

Review analysis
food   value

Chargrilled steaks and burgers cooked from scratch, with a host of toppings and other menu specialities that are well worth the wait Burgers in this pretension-free, friendly Leith diner come piled high with pineapple and jalapeno salsa, fried onions, garlic butter, bacon, blue cheese and a bunch of other toppings - but they don’t come fast.

Chargrilled steaks and burgers are their speciality, but the specials menu also features seafood (mussels with smoked garlic, white wine and cream for example, or tandoori mackerel fillets), plus vegetarian falafel platters and savoury tarts with butternut squash, cashews and honey.

To finish, there’s ice cream on offer, plus simple but moreish desserts like vanilla cheesecake of sticky toffee pudding, and a daily cocktail special - although it’s hard to see past their espresso martini, a welcome buzzy, boozy pick-me-up after a meat and carb-fest.

Still deciding if it’s the burger place for you?

Their website has a burger restaurant game you can play where you try and not mess up orders from hungry, fussy customers, against the clock.

The Ship On The Shore | Restaurants in Leith, Edinburgh

Review analysis
food

It is on the Shore but it's not a ship Essentially this is a seafood restaurant sitting by the Water of Leith, near the old docks entrance.

The décor involves lots of wood and a maritime theme but if you catch it between 9am and 11am the Ship has a daily breakfast menu with a certain touch of class.
