Zizzi - Gluten Free Edinburgh

There are a few Zizzi restaurants in Edinburgh: Old Town, Edinburgh Quay, Ocean Terminal and Queensferry Street.

I went for an evening with a group of friends to the Old Town restaurant.

Even in January the restaurant was pretty busy, but the service was good and the choices for gluten free are excellent.

The Roxburgh Court Zizzi has a great view across the city and is in the same development as the fab Devil’s Advocate pub and the really gorgeous five star apartments at Old Town Chambers.

This is a nice bit of town the combines old and new really stylishly and although the Zizzi at Ocean Terminal has the feeling you are about to embark on a voyage and has amazing views too, I think this one is my favourite.

Zizzi Italian Restaurant Review | Vegan Edinburgh

This Italian restaurant has lots of branches across the UK, with four in Edinburgh alone, so it’s fair to say that Zizzi has plenty of experience catering for people with dietary requirements.

In fact, when Mr B and I arrived and told them we required the vegan menu, we were handed a book that outlined the menu for every diet under the sun: gluten-free, dairy-free, low calorie… You name it, it was there!

To start we had a paddle of vegan garlic bread, which was so big we shared it between us.

For the main course, I had the lentil ragu while Mr B had the Rustica pizza with caramelised balsamic onions, mushrooms and pine nuts.

Get snobby about chain restaurants if you like, but Zizzi have absolutely nailed their vegan menu.

We sent along Mr C and Mama C to find out how to use the app, see the offers and enjoy themselves.

Mama C and I arrived just after 7pm, and we were greeted by friendly and courteous staff.

The dough was topped with copious amounts of cheese and mushrooms, particularly pleasing due to Mama C’s fondness of the funghi.

She stated that the food was delish, and, due to the hefty portion size, could’ve made a good main course.

Inside, keep an eye out for design features inspired by Sir James Campbell and Victorian luxury... Zizzi’s Italian restaurant serves tasty, authentic dishes from pizza, pasta and risotto to salads and indulgent desserts – all in a uniquely designed restaurant.

Their Italian menu also includes Vegan and Vegetarian options.

Zizzi are open Monday – Sunday for lunch and dinner.
