We’ve found some of the best juice bars, low-fat menus and vegetarian restaurants in Edinburgh that will satisfy your taste buds while keeping the healthy eating plan completely in-tact.... If you love soup this is the place to go.

Hula Juice Bar is a healthy place to get some breakfast, lunch or just a smoothie if you need a quick pick me up.

Stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and if you really like what you try you can pop next door to their small charming grocery outlet, where you can pick up all your wholesome and healthy food essentials.

They also serve a respectable number of gluten and dairy free options, and if you want to round off your healthy meal with a naughty treat, the ice cream sundaes are delightful.

it's a great place for parents to bring their kids as they have a designated play area, giving parents a chance to entertain their kids’ out-with their homes while enjoying lovely healthy foods!

We've asked Scott from Edinburgh blog Blu Blazer Guy to tell us about his favourite clean eating haunts... Throughout the city a new wave of healthy eating is taking the city by storm.

With a varied selection of hot and cold food and delicious juices and smoothies you won’t be stuck for choice.

I recommend the chipotle salmon with peppers, broccoli, spinach, brown rice, fresh guacamole, sprouted seeds, healthy slaw and salad, which is full of colour and nutrition and the simple delicate combination of flavours are delicious.

Situated on Morningside Road, this café sells a delicious array of organic food.

You are immediately welcomed into a fresh, airy and open café with small wooden tables, a few comfortable sofas, scattered leafy plants and I especially love the picnic table at the back of the room looking onto a lovely array of colourful flowers and plants outside.

But I am also a coffee person, and after hearing massive praise from B and others about the quality of the coffee and the care that the baristas at Hula take to learn to properly make a good cup of coffee, I knew where I was going to take Hels.

I love breakfast foods, and unlike B, I eat porridge most mornings.

Sometimes, I don’t really care, but this morning, I opted for the vegan (with water) version and a large Americano while Helen picked the porridge with dark chili chocolate and a soya latte.

Helen’s porridge came with a wee jug of melted chili chocolate which she poured over the porridge and mixed in.

It was a warm and sunny weekend when a pal and I decided to pop in and refuel after a busy morning exploring the Old Town, and we couldn’t wait to get stuck into this place’s tasty yet nutritious offering.

Whether you’re looking for a hearty brunch, a spot of lunch or just a sweet treat, there’s plenty of cruelty-free options at Hula Juice Bar.

I had the Rainbow Bowl, which on this day was made of chana dahl, cucumber, quinoa, tomatoes and toasted coconut flakes.

Hula Juice Bar is a popular spot in the Grassmarket for both breakfast and lunch.

If you’re wanting a nutritious boost in the heart of the Old Town, this place is a very solid shout.

If you like the clean, minimalist lines of Scandinavian design then there is one store in Edinburgh you need to pay a visit to: Life Story on 53 London Street (there is also an online shop if you’re based somewhere else than Edinburgh!)

Life Story is a concept-store, a hybrid of coffee and design.

The stock is Scandinavian design-led products – – home wares, prints, jewellery, accessories and stationery – – from Danish design houses (ferm Living, HAY and House Doctor for example) curated with smaller local and UK-based makers that share the same Nordic influences (Polymorphics, Wolf & Moon, Hidden Stag Design, Natalie J Wood and Ingrid Petrie to name just a few).

My inspiration was to bring to Edinburgh the kind of store that I seek out when abroad, an inspiring place where you feel just at home with a coffee flicking through our magazines as you might be shopping for a unique gift.

I always think an ‘experience gift’ is a good option, giving a loved one the opportunity to try something that they might not have – e.g. an upcoming Macramé class or Weaving workshop at Life Story is a nice option.
