The space is split into two areas with the front being more a of bar atmosphere and the back for dining, but as the night goes on and it starts to get more lively these merge into one.

They regularly host live music, jam sessions with local musicians, latin club nights and salsa classes.

It’s a popular venue for live sport on their big screens, especially football as you might imagine and the atmosphere is always fantastic.

After dancing the night away many regulars return on Sunday to eat their hangover away… Decor is vibrant and colourful with a slightly deconstructed feel.

For great cocktails, great atmosphere and real Latin passion head to Boteco do Brasil.

Brazilian theme bar packing in the students with party vibes and cocktail deals.

Plastic palms, Christ the Redeemer mural, framed Ronaldhino and Kaka footie shirts: yes, it’s a Brazilian-themed bar.

Boteco’s all-day menu is themed on traditional Brazilian with dishes drawn from all Brazilian compass points.

A long list of beach bar tapas includes risoli de camarão (prawn-stuffed pastry parcels) and mariscos (mussels and clams cooked in white wine).

For mains, try the bauru, the original Brazilian burger with strips of roast beef, or go for a regional dish like Bahia’s xinxim de galinha – chicken in a cashew and coconut sauce.

Boteco Do Brasil adds a slice of Latin excitement to Edinburgh’s historic Old Town.

The venue channels the spirit of Brasil into its every feature, from its indigenous South American cuisine, to its party atmosphere built through a mix of reggaetón, salsa, bachata, Latin Dance and African tunes.

They’re known to host many exciting parties, filled with a healthy dose of caipirinhas, as well as salsa nights and live music evenings, which makes sure something is always being celebrated within their walls.

The cocktail list is as fun as the venue, with additions like Reggae Rum Punch and Watermelon Martini adding a welcome injection of South American sunshine into the Scottish capital.

food

The southern edge of Edinburgh’s Old Town is home to the National Museum of Scotland, but it also boasts something of a temple to Brazilian culture at Boteco Do Brasil on Lothian Street.

Everything that makes Brazil enticing is celebrated: from samba and soccer to tropical cocktails and delicious, fresh food.

You could spend months picking through the traditional Brazilian tapas – a few to target are Risoli de camarão (prawn-filled pastry parcels), carne de sol (seasoned beef with cassava) and coxinha de frango (kind of souped up chicken potato dumplings).

Then there are burgers, tasty grilled meats, delicious desserts, live music, a dance floor and everything else making Boteco Do Brasil one of the funnest spots around the Old Town in Edinburgh.
